Now that Ranbir Kapoor upcoming movies ‘Sanju’ directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra is up for release on June 29,2018,we can’t wait but anticipate a huge blockbuster movie. And why not? It is the biopic of actor Sanjay Dutt played by master in disguise Ranbir Kapoor who has went through unbelievable transformations and seen portraying various avatars of Sanjay Dutt during various phases of his life. There has always been a huge buzz around Sanju movie, only because it is the biopic of most controversial movie star of Bollywood rather one of the most famous bad boys of the industry.
“A bad boy with a good heart”,
I guess this best describes Sanjay Dutt, one of Bollywood’s most loved actors!Of all the celebrities we hear of, ‘Sanju Baba’, is the one who has consistently been in the limelight, and generally for all the wrong reasons. His life seems nothing less than a game of Snakes & Ladders, and he has gone through unimaginable highs and indecipherable lows. But if there is anyone who always bounces back at life, it is the ‘Deadly Dutt’! Born on 29 July, 1959, to one of Indian Cinema’s greatest actor couple, Sunil Dutt and Nargis, Sanjay Dutt was the first born. He made his debut in 1981 with the film ‘Rocky’, which was a great success. With movies like ‘Vidhata and ‘Jeeva’ he made a foothold in the industry, but it was with “Naam”, that he claimed his critical accolades from even the ones who criticized him for enjoying the stardom because of his parents. He is one of the very few actors to have played a variety of roles, from romantics to thugs, from comedy to villainous, from honest policemen to dreaded gangsters. He has done it all and his fans loved him in every avatar of his! His life is an open book he says. And it is nothing less than a full-on Bollywood movie, with loads of drama, emotion, romance and tragedy. He was already into drugs when his mother was undergoing treatment for Cancer, but it was her death that Sanjay was pushed deeper into them. It was then that he was sent to the US for rehabilitation by his father. When he came back, he was a changed man. He and his family have always spoken publicly about his ‘drug-days’ and have inspired many. He was, “A boy gone astray!” His life struggles never really seem to have ended. He was arrested in 1993, for illegal arms possession. He reveals that,
“My family was under threat, a guy came and asked me if I needed a gun. I am fond of guns and kept it, not realizing what I as doing. Later when I did, I got scared and destroyed it. And then I was arrested. People were angry initially, but they too realized soon that I couldn’t have a hand in the blasts.”
His fans also feel that “His blessing became his curse”, had he been an ordinary person and not a ‘Star Kid’ or a ‘Star’, he wouldn’t have undergone so much suffering. His fame and family ties proved rather counterproductive for him. No doubt his career was going well, but he suffered far too many personal lows. He has been married thrice. His first wife, actress Richa Sharma died of brain tumour. Their daughter Trishala lives in the US with her grandparents. He then remarried, model Rhea Pillai in 1998, but the couple divorced in 2005. He then married his current wife Manyata in 2008, and they have twins Shahraan and Iqra. But Sanjay, is not called the “Deadly Dutt” for nothing, all these lows probably give him the challenge to fight his way back. He gives the credit to his family, friends and fans who have supported him all his life and give him a reason to get back on his feet. Movies like “Vaastav” gave him the opportunity to prove his mettle in other genres too. He gave many hits after this too. He won a National Award for Munnabhai MBBS, and received an award from Ex-Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his work in Munnabhai series. His hosting of the TV reality Show, Big Boss , and his recent movies like PK, Bhoomi have once again given a reason to his fans to rejoice. Sanjay Dutt, isn’t someone who shies away from his mistakes, he has the courage to accept the mistakes he has made and had the grit to learn from them. He’s always been more than willing to hold it up as example and talk about his ups and down. With the upcoming movie, Sanju, starting Ranbir Kapoor, his fans would get a real peak into the life of the star! From his career to his drug-battle, from a brat in his youth to a responsible father now, his biopic is one of the most awaited films in recent times.
