2017 is the year of female heroes and some of the big-name comic characters from DC comics have made a name for themselves in movies, video games. Some of these female characters have even inspired game providers to come out with superhero themed online slots games. Although the original Tomb Raider came out in 1996, Lara has been an industry changer and one of the first games to feature an exclusive female protagonist. Twenty years later and Lara Croft still makes an impact and the games and movies inspired by this character have won awards with Rise of the Tomb Raider being released as an exclusive title for Xbox One. In 2017, the Tomb Raider movie franchise is being given a make over with Alicia Vikander playing the lead role. The new movie will be adapting the story and the movie is being produced and will hopefully hit screen and more in 2018.

Harley Quinn from Injustice: Gods Among Us 2

Harley Quinn proved to be a huge success and she is set to return for a sequel movie. Ever since her redesign in the Arkham Batman game series she has had her own comic series and is a consistent member of the Suicide Squad in the comics. Females everywhere got to see her in big screen action in the 2016 Suicide Squad movie and it looks like her popularity isn’t about to end either. She is returning for an animated Batman & Harley Quinn film too and there is talk of Suicide Squad 2 as well as the spin-off movie Gotham City Sirens. When it comes to creating great video games, Marvel & Capcom look for the best characters for their fighting games. They capitalized on the hype surrounding movies and games and they are now making Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite which will include female hero Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers.  Wonder Woman’s first movie debuted in June 2017 and was a massive success. We also had Injustice: Gods Among Us 2 video game.
