Army wives are known for their strength and courage. They are said to have the toughest job in the world. Despite facing the problems, making the sacrifices and keeping that forever smiling, she very well knows, that she is not going to top the priority list of her soldier husband. For an officer of the Indian Army, it is always “Nation First”. But then, this loyalty and commitment is the biggest reason she loves him!

Being an Army Wife is Lot of Fun too!

There is another side to this Iron Lady, the fun side! Army Wives are said to be excellent hostesses. And hosting becomes all the more fun when they do it together. ‘Ladies Meet’ is one such occasion when the army wives of a group (a Unit or a Brigade etc.), host an evening that is not just for fun, but an integral part of every army wive’s grooming. It is after all, such activities and events that keep the ladies in close proximity especially the officer is away on duty or a field posting. They are not just a social gathering but also help in building team work, sense of belongingness and of course sharing the good as well as tough times together.

What it is and How it all Begins!

Army parties are as it is very popular! The ladies club meet is a little different though, being only for ladies. In simple words, a ladies meet is the fauji version of a Kitty Party! Army Wives are very creative and enterprising. Their Event Management skills are impeccable. ‘Ladies Meet’ is just an example. Generally held once a month, in rotation by a different group, every ladies meet is an event in itself. The planning starts weeks, sometimes even months ago. The ultimate challenge is to finalize a theme for the meet, once that is done, everything else gradually falls into place! The host team’s biggest task remains to keep the ‘theme’ a secret! Mostly a ladies meet consists of games, singing and dancing, some innovative home decor or craft or recipe ideas, interactions, delicious food, lots of prizes and of course Tambola! There would hardly be a Ladies Meet ever without a game of Tambola!

An Exhibition of Talent

An army wive is synonymous to Wonder Woman! You can call her the not just the Jack, but the Master of All Trades! Some are so good at singing, some are excellent dancers, some are orators, some are so outstanding in their crafting or art work. Ladies Meets give an opportunity to all the ladies to showcase their hidden talents and share them with other ladies who would appreciate and be inspired by their fellow army wives.

The Theme is Important

Just like any other party, the theme is of absolute importance. It should not just be unique, yet interesting and very enjoyable. Ladies love to let lose and go with the flow, at this formal yet fantastic event. From Bollywood to Guns-and-Roses, from Valentines to Karwachauth, from Basant to Halloween, the hunt for a good ‘Theme’ and interesting party ideas are always on! The games, the decorations, the gifts and prizes and sometimes even the menu revolves around the Theme itself!

A Memorable Evening

The evening comes to an end in a blink. Months of preparations and hard work pay off when the guests seem to be enjoying every little detail of the event and shower the hosts with compliments! The diligent and untiring wives and mothers, who have spent so much time and effort on planning and organising the event too take a deep breath as the evening goes by successfully. It is no competition but still, everyone works as a team for the name of the formation!

Recently, at an army station, a Ladies Club Meet was organised on the “Roadies” theme. Our friend Mrs Loretta has been very kind and has shared the pictures of the Ladies Meet with us! Seeing the pictures it becomes needless to say that the ladies loved it.

Mrs Loretta is a proud Army Wife, and wants to take the Army Wife camaraderie to the next level. She is organizing an all Women Trip for ladies related to Forces.
