A girl from Jhajjar district in Haryana which is infamous for female feticide brings extraordinary honor and glory not only to her rural village but also to the whole country, all by the virtue of her feminism and beauty.
Yes, A simple girl from simple background from Haryana!
Though her grandfather still resides in her paternal home back at Jhajjar,her parents moved out of Haryana to Delhi in search of better future for them and their daughter. Her mother Dr Neelam Chhilar is HOD of neuro-Chemistry at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences and her father Dr Mitra Basu Chhillar is a scientists at DRDO. Just after winning the Miss world title she tweeted this picture with caption

Belonging to such progressive and educated family comes with great responsibilities and so it was not unlikely when she joined MBBS in Bhagat phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonepat Haryana which is again a very small town of Haryana.
This aspiring doctor participated in many beauty pageants but her turning point was winning Miss Haryana 2017. Then she enrolled for prestigious 54th Femina Miss India World 2017 and won it. She was in close competition with the first runner-up Sana Dua from Jammu & Kashmir and second runner-up Priyanka Kumari from Bihar. Her beauty and smile won hearts throughout. Just after winning the title she said
“I am focussing on representing India at the prestigious stage of Miss Worlds for now. My focus is just Miss World. I want to give it my 200 percent and bring the blue crown back home.”
Her pet project ‘Project Shakti’ which aims at educating women on menstruation cycle and increase social awareness on menstruation in 20 villages and reached as many as 5000 women was a project under her ‘Beauty with Purpose’ initiative and much appreciated on Miss World 2017 platform.And right when you thought that is it! You get to know this multi talented vivacious girl with lovely smile is also a highly trained kuchipudi dancer,been part of National School of Drama,loves poetry and painting and also been an ace on academic front, she is All India CBSE English topper in class 12.
At Miss World 2017 she was one of the popular choices throughout the event and won many awards like semi finalist in the Top model,People’s Choice and Multimedia competitions while she was a co-winner of the Beauty with a Purpose competition during Miss World competition. But what truly won the judges heart was her answer to the final question and answer round. She was asked “Which job deserves the highest salary?” She smiled and replied with all poise and grace
“I think it should be of a Mother. Mothers all around the globe sacrifice so much for their kids. So if you talk about salary then it is not cash but love and respect that you can give to a mother. I am very close to my mother.”

Manushi Chillar is the 6th Indian girl to win the Miss world crown and next after Priyanaka Chopra who won the same coveted title in 2000. The other former Miss world from India has been Rita Fariya,Aishwarya Rai,Daina Hayden,Yukta Mukhi and Priyanka Chopra. Miss India Manushi Chillar was crowned Miss World 2017 by outgoing titleholder Stephanie Del Valle from Spain.
