Broken dreams,unfulfilled promises: Aftermaths of Pulwama terrorist attack
There is something mystique about Jammu and Kashmir,at one side it is pure,pious,ethereal and the other side is dark,gothic and vicious. One part of it has a glorious history of joining INDIAN ARMY while the other part kneels down before the darkness of terrorism. No wonder recently in Pulwama terror attacks one son of Kashmir disgraced the lands and the other son laid down his life becoming part of a golden history. Adil Ahmed Dar alias Waqas Commander the suicide bomber who carried out surprise attack on CRPF convoy was from Gandibagh, Kakapora area in Pulwama Kashmir whereas the martyr Naseer Ahmed the CRPF head constable who laid down his life in Pulwama terror attack was from Dodasan Bala village of Thanamandi in Rajouri district of Jammu division. The whole village cried for him and his last rights were performed with full military rites and was given ‘shok shastra’ with state honour.
Twenty year old Adil rammed a SUV loaded with 350 kilograms of explosives into one of the buses carrying 35-40 troopers out of a 78-vehicle CRPF convoy. While 50 have been killed in the attack, several injured personnel continue to battle for their lives. Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility for the attack later and released a video of Dar, who joined the terrorist group a year ago. Though his family denies any connection with him and father Ghulam Hassan Dar said
“We had no idea he would choose this path.”
On the other side cried and sobs rent the air at martyr Naseer Ahmed house. He attained martyrdom a day after his 46th birthday, Coming from a family of belt forces, his brother is also in a police department. he was an orphan who was raised by his elder brother Salah-ud-din. Dedicated towards his job, he rose to the rank of the head constable in the CRPF. Ahmed is survived by his wife and minor son and a daughter. His brother said
“My father had died when he was born. I raised him like my child. I was in Jammu and I reached home during night,”
The list of martyrs,their families,the relatives they left behind and the situation back in their houses can bring tears to anyone’s eyes. They were not rich and powerful but patriotic and passionate people who believed in this nation][- and worked towards keeping the Indian flag high. Their families are extremely ordinary but holding extraordinary courage which is not the virtue of everyone else.
The father of another martyr CRPF jawan Ratan Thakur in Bihar said
“I have sacrificed a son in Mother India’s service, I will send my other son as well to fight. I am ready to give him up for Mother India, but Pakistan must be given a befitting reply,”
Another martyr CRPF jawan Maninder Singh from Punjab leaves behind an old and grieving father who still can not believe that his son is gone too soon,he asked his sister in one last call
‘mai to ja raha hu,kapde dho ke rakhna”
Another martyr Pankaj Tripathi from Maharajganj Bihar leaves behind a 3 year old son who does not even know his father is no more.
CT ROHITASH LAMBA from Rohtak blessed with a baby girl a month back. He was waiting to go on leave to see his little princess in person. But sadly now the baby girl will never see her father.
The last rights of CRPF soldier Sivachandran was performed by weeping father in military camouflage in memory of his martyred son, his little s also wore the police uniform gifted by his father in the recent visit home.
Another heart breaking news was of another slain CRPF soldier Kulwinder Singh from Roopar Punjab who was also the only child of his parents. His picture of severed arm broke million hearts and he was identified by his engagement ring,he was about to get married later this year.
In Chakkashi Rajbangshipara village of Howrah district of West Bengal, the family of Bablu Santra still trying to come to terms with his death in the horrific suicide bombing on Thursday. They demand that the killing be avenged and perpetrators taught a lesson they don’t forget.He is survived by a wife and four year old daughter.
“We want the killing of ‘mama’ and others who died with him avenged. Those behind the cowardly attack must be taught a lesson they don’t forget,” the martyred jawan’s nephew Raghubir Mondal said on Friday. Raghuvir Modal said his uncle often encouraged to join the force to serve the nation.”
Many more faces and stories unsaid and unknown of fallen sons, fathers, brothers, husbands, friends and of soldiers who bore the brunt of protecting us. The list of broken dream and unfulfilled promises are endless, families of the slain jawans are mourning across India for their caretakers and provider.
The cities have stopped their daily jobs,shops are closed and slogans like shaheed amar rahe,pakistan murdabad have penetrated the sky.
But will we ever reach any conclusion? Why don’t we work upon a system to ensure the security and safety of those who safeguard us,something to ensure no security lapse,no intelligence failure, no incompetence of senior command to be held responsible for their untimely,uncalled killings when these brave warriors don’t even get an opportunity to fight back. The shok shastra given is only justified if they are avenged as well.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked every minister to attend martyrs funerals in their home area personally and it is followed by several celebrities announcing donations and other help to the martyr families like Amitabh Bachchan offered five lac to each martyr’s family,Virendra Sehwag offered to take upon education of martyrs kids,Reliance foundation offered jobs,Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath offered twenty five lac to each martyr’s family. There was another news of a businessman from Surat who donated money to the families of CRPF jawans martyred in Pulwama on Thursday instead of spending it on the feast which was to be a part of his daughter’s wedding festivities. An engineering college cancelled its college fest and instead donated rupees 10 lac to the martyrs family and many more.
But this all comes to another point that how long these sympathies would last? Everytime any such incident happens people come forward and make an endless list of promises but we keep hearing how some or the other martyr’s old father or widow wife are running post to pillars over the fulfillment of those promises. Not even half of these promises will be fulfilled but would that stop our brave soldiers from fulfilling their duties? What makes an Indian Soldier so resilient? Why do our bravehearts prefer duty beyond emotions? Their zeal and enthusiasm is unmatchable and their glory would remain immortal. We as nation should never forget the countless sacrifices of thousand of such extraordinary men who sacrificed their future over the future and freedom of this country that moves on after every such misfortune but at the same time the same lands produce a lot of men who go ahead ,don’t rant rather turn to be an Indian soldier trained by Indian Army and other such great institutions to be someone, generations can look upon and get inspired.
Afterall a nation is not built over bridges or building but over piles of dead bodies of its martyrs!
