I am such a nomadic soul that I keep on travelling here and there, now and then and it makes me a travel expert. I can pack my suitcase and tie my shoelaces in a minute to hit the road in a fraction of second. And you can do it too! Especially packing the suitcase for a week or short duration vacations could be real pain. But if you ask me,it does not matter whether you are going away for a short trip or a long trip. You just need to know the basic things to pack a suitcase efficiently and you can easily travel light and enjoy your vacations in style.
“Like an undisputed,urban Diva!”
The best way to pack a suitcase is to carry a few travel staples with you all the time and keep a check list of those things in your phone or diary. Even if you forget any of your important stuffs these travel hacks would not let you down. So here is the packing list that will help you travel in style and keep up the swag in the air.
The emphasis is while you travel in style you also travel light! Take a peek into my suitcase and get some idea.
A jacket is a must have into your suitcase while you pack for any sort of vacation. It’s an undisputed Travel Champ. Can be used at airports, trains or for a fun evening! One word? It cover up any flap with your dress! The best part you still look stylish. Can go with shorts, midis, dresses, jeans, salwar suit or anything you feel like wearing during your vacation. I usually prefer denim for me but it could be any of your favourite jacket in any fabric.
This one is a Pepe Jeans multi pocket washed denim jacket that costed me around Rs 4500 in sale.
A multipurpose stole is another important must have in your suitcase which again act as a saviour to any Faux Pas. This one is a dual side cotton stole that has two sides, one is pitch black and other side which you could see is multicolour. I sometime use it as my dupatta or scarf too. The lazy evenings strolls along the beach or an evening cup of tea at the lap of mountains get even cosier with this beauty.
Bought from a local weaver in Kashmir during one of my summer vacations costed me around Rs 500.
One multipurpose T-shirt is important travel piece which you must pack in your suitcase even if you are carrying an entire lot of trendy tops. One sports t-shirt in my wardrobe act as one such t-shirt. It goes with any dress from shorts to jeans. Looks elegant and sporty at the same time and what more aids to the style! From hotel room to vacation shopping it acts loyally as a perfect companion.
This head t shirt was bought from a Delhi Mall and costed me around Rs 1600 two years back.
If you keep two more types of T-shirts, you won’t require to carry any more tops. One should be full sleeved and other should be sleeveless. These three types of T shirts would replace all sort of T shirts in your wardrobe while you travel. And what more suit all travel situations and moods. You can go from trendy to traditional to chic to fun with the help of their different silhouettes and textures.
I prefer my boyfriend denim shirt from ASOS bought for Rs 1500 and mango sleeveless shimmer Tank Top bought for Rs 2500. I team them up with my jacket or stole to provide a stylish look or just change te vibes.
I am not very fond of carrying too many jeans or trousers for short trips especially if it is not an official trip. So the best bid is to carry a multifunctional pair of leggings which can act as a jeans to really diversified piece of pants which goes from Indian wear to western ones easily. If you wear shorts you can also carry a pair of shorts which will rise up being your saviour if your plans suddenly change and you decide to hit the beach, disc or simply have fun in the jungle.
The ‘Only’ patch work legging is mostly cotton and lycra that I bought for some Rs2600 and this Deal Jeans High waisted Hot pants were for Rs 1500 .
The Kaftan is tagged as one true travel piece and they are also very diversified in their vibes. One very free spirited piece just like your vacation. Act as a dress, a maxi, a gown or even as nightwear. The silhouettes are always cozy and comfortable. It will quench your thirst for those last left to do things on your vacation when you are really in rush yet wanna go trendy.
This 109’F geometric kaftan dress costed me around Rs1900.
Packing shoes for a short trip could be real pain. Carrying one pair of shoes is really boring and honestly tacky! Whereas taking too many shoes which occupies too much space in your small suitcase is uncalled for! So what you can do is that you can follow one heel and one flat formula for your short trip vacation. Heels to be there for your party mood and flats to be there for everything else and every type of dress. Flats could be of your choice ranging from sneakers to flip flops to a ballet shoes.
This black embellished stilettos is from Paprika for Rs2500 and this stunning golden embellished ballets are for Rs800 from a local shop in jammu called first step.
The accessories part should strictly stick to ‘keep the basics‘ only. Now you can’t do without a watch and shades on vacation so try not to forget keeping it in your purse then keep travel size bottles of your basic things. I normally use foundations and moisturisers but during vacations I prefer to keep a the best in business BB cream and a 50ml bottle of my favourite perfume. The lip balm act as lipstick and also keep my lips moisturised. One statement piece to go with every dress and a few safety pins and hair bands. I keep all these goodies into a separate pouch.
The Chanel Coco Mademoiselle 50 ml bottle( Rs 8890) and La Rosey Posey BB cream (Rs 1600) which compensates for moisturiser, sunscreen and a foundation all was gifted to me by my brother from Europe.
Atlast there should always be a light weighted purse to be your best friend during your vacations. The best approach is to carry small plastic pouches and categorise things into them. Like basic medicine into one. The basic cosmetics into one. The other accessories or wipes into one sort off. Also you should have a small money bag to accommodate your money,Visa,Tickets etc with you to keep you off from any headache later on.
Travelling in style is an art and it is important to make beautiful memories too. Carrying ‘multipurpose and multifunctional‘ clothes and accessories is the key. Don’t be tempted with favouritism.
So bring on the swag and hit the roads ASAP!
